W26-28.FADA Crystal Detector Stand, 1922
One of the most popular early American crystal detector stands. The FADA 101-A, complete with Galena crystal, nickel plated hardware, and a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1/4 black Bakelite base. The "FADA" logo molded into the base is elliptical and boarded between the words "Trade Mark". The manufacturer, Frank Angelo D'Andrea, went into business making radio parts in 1920 and by 1924 was grossing one million plus. His was a mercurial career till his death in 1967. At the age of 77 he was still making radio and electronic equipment. A very fine piece which still works as well as the day it was made.
