W26-17. Late 19th Century German Holosteric BarometerThe barometer is 5"in diameter. It's brass case with the original beveled glass and lacquered finish, cradles securely on a nicely formed black lacquered wood stand and has a generous ring for easy handling or wall mounting. Overall height is 8". The scale reads from 24 to 30 inches of Mercury and is continuous so readings can be estimated beyond these points. Weather conditions in German text run on the top half of the scale, "STURM V. Regen R Wind VERANDERLICH Schon W. Bestandig S. TROCKEN". A nice desk piece with a enough patina to make it feel like an old friend.
